The second meeting of the Joint Committee of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement was held in Australia

On April 16th, the second meeting of the Joint Committee of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement was held in Canberra, Australia. The meeting was co chaired by Li Fei, Vice Minister of Commerce of China, and George Mina, Deputy Secretary General of the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.


Both sides unanimously believe that the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries has pointed out the direction for deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Both sides highly evaluate the achievements made since the implementation of the agreement, fully recognize the important role played by the agreement in promoting the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, and express their intention to further tap into the potential of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement in the future, and promote the continuous deepening and consolidation of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the agreement in areas such as goods, services, investment, finance, natural person movement, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures since its entry into force. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on their respective topics of concern, and discussed the overall review of the agreement and the next steps of work arrangements.
