On March 20, 2024 local time, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a symposium in Canberra with people from various sectors such as Australian business and strategy.

Wang Yi expressed appreciation to people from all walks of life in Australia for their long-term adherence to the concept of friendship with China and their active promotion of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Australia.
Wang Yi stated that China's development is an increase in the power of world peace. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and the second largest contributor to the United Nations Congress, China has always been committed to peace, vigorously promoting peace talks, and making positive contributions to maintaining international and regional peace and stability. China's development is an enhancement of global stability factors. China has always advocated and practiced multilateralism, advocated for the democratization of international relations, opposed unilateralism and bullying, and actively promoted the development of the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction. China's development is an expansion of development opportunities. China adheres to a mutually beneficial and win-win strategy of opening up, and the door to opening up to the outside world is opening wider and wider. It continues to create a market-oriented, rule of law, and international business environment, actively participates in international cooperation to cope with climate change, and continuously provides new opportunities for the world with China's new development.
Wang Yi said that China Australia relations are comprehensive and multi-faceted, and the common interests of both sides far outweigh differences. The two countries should be partners rather than rivals. Since China Australia relations have been on the track of improvement, we should take great strides forward and build a more stable, mature, and fruitful comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Australia, which will better benefit the people of both countries and regional countries. Welcome everyone to visit and take a look in China, introduce real experiences of China Australia exchanges, promote friendly exchanges between the two peoples, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and contribute to the development of China Australia relations.
Australian attendees stated that Australia and China are important partners in cooperation, and the common interests of the two countries far outweigh their differences. Australian business, strategy, and other sectors welcome the improvement of Australia China relations, support the deepening of dialogue and cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, finance, education, health, scientific research, and law, properly handle differences, actively explore new opportunities for cooperation in green development and technological innovation, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, promote the continuous development of Australia China relations, and increase the certainty of the world with the stability of Australia China relations.
The symposium is hosted by the Australia China Business Council.
